Bachelor Buttons
- 3/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1 egg
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 cup shredded cocoanut
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup shredded almonds, walnuts or soya bean flakes
- 1/2 cup glazed cherries (cut in halves or quarters)
Cream butter, add sugar gradually and then syrup. Beat until creamy. Add well beaten egg and beat well. Mix flour, with baking soda, and add to first mixture. Add cocoanut, vanilla, nuts and cherries. drop from spoon on to greased baking sheet. bake in hot oven, 400 deg. F. for 15 min.
